Redlands 116, Occidental 104--Sandy Brown scored a game-high 27 points and freshman point guard Hung Duong added 20 and eight assists for host Occidental (10-8, 3-2) in the SCIAC
Cal Lutheran 86, Caltech 54--Joe Cohen scored 22 points and Jeff deLaveaga added 19 for Cal Lutheran (8-9) in a nonconference game at Caltech.
Valley 85, Bakersfield 73--Sophomore guard Tory Stephens scored 32 points to lead the Monarchs to a Western State Conference Southern Division win at Bakersfield. Helping Stephens was freshman Ben Boyd, who had nine rebounds to lead the Monarchs. Greg Burt paced Bakersfield with 23 points.
Cal State Sacramento 75, Cal State Northridge 55--CSUN's leading scorer, Bridgette Ealy, who was suffering from the flu, played only 15 minutes in the championship game of the Cal State Sacramento tournament.
Joan Weinerth and Julie Arlotto led Northridge (7-12) with 11 points each.
Bakersfield 73, Valley 72--The Renegades held off a late challenge to upset the Monarchs in a Western State Conference game at Bakersfield.
Falicia Stanley missed a three-point shot with eight seconds left for Valley, which entered the game ranked second in the state by the JC Athletic Bureau. Valley, whose seven-game winning streak was snapped, fell to 22-4, 3-1 in conference play.
Claudia Rocha scored 12 points, Roz Linton had 10 rebounds, and Tisa Rush had a game-high 24 points, five assists and four steals for Valley, which was outrebounded, 36-24.
Canyons 97, Glendale 27--Shannon Solway had 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Lady Cougars in a Western State Conference game at Canyons. Kim Posey added 15 points and 12 rebounds and Keira Irwin had 15 assists for Canyons (13-12, 2-2), which recorded its highest point total of the season.
Canyons outscored Glendale, 53-6, in the second half.
