Westwood : Czech Leader to Visit UCLA

February 07, 1991

Vaclav Havel, president of the Czech Slovak Federal Republic (formerly Czechoslovakia), will be honored by UCLA when he visits the campus April 18.

Havel, a noted playwright as well as a political leader, will be awarded the UCLA Medal. He will also deliver the university's Tanner Lecture on Human Values at a special academic convocation.

Jailed as a dissident by the former Czech government, Havel will also meet with graduate students interested in international relations.
