The Meaning Behind the Peace Symbol

February 17, 1991

"Return Engagement" (Feb. 1) was good. However, it never gave mention of what the peace symbol means. The closest it came was, "It was crafted by British and American 'Ban the Bomb' advocates in 1958. . . ."

There was no indication that writer Susan Christian or anyone she interviewed is aware that the sign means "Nuclear Disarmament" and represents the flag-code letters N and D.
