Opponents Storm Ruling Party Office

February 18, 1991|From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Islamic fundamentalists stormed the ruling Constitutional Democratic Rally party's headquarters in Tunis. Four people were injured, including two guards. Officials said the 30 attackers were members of the outlawed En-Nahda movement, target of a recent government crackdown. Police arrested several of the assailants. The attack appeared to have no link to the Persian Gulf War. Both the Tunisian government and En-Nahda support Iraq in the conflict.
