Specialist Ginny Thomas' tent mate wakes up on Feb. 17 to what she says is a feeling she can't explain--a sense that something back home has gone wrong. "I want to go home," she sobs, waking Thomas.
A little later, perched on a cot with her noon MRE (Meal Ready to Eat), Thomas recalls the moment in verse:
As she cries, my sister of war,
I feel helpless and full of fear.
What can I alone do to stop those tears? . . .
We pray and talk, all of us as one,
Believing that the end of this will come.
Be brave, be strong, is all we hear,
When all we really feel is fear.
