Dolly Parton is going dramatic. She's currently in Austin, Tex., filming a yet untitled NBC movie about a country-Western singer whose dreams of stardom turn into a nightmare when she becomes the prime suspect in the murder of her abusive lover. The film is set to air in the fall.
The ACE-winning HBO comedy series "The Kids in the Hall," currently airing Fridays at midnight, will return for a third season. The Kids-- Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney and Scott Thompson--will tape 20 new episodes in Toronto beginning this spring for debut later this year.
Stan Rogow, executive producer of NBC's "Shannon's Deal," and John Byrum, writer-director of the feature films "Razor's Edge" and "Heartbeat," are the co-creators and executive producers of "Out of Season," an NBC movie and series pilot about a famous counterculture writer who is reluctantly elected mayor of a popular Colorado ski resort. Ted Levine, the "Buffalo Bill" serial killer in "The Silence of the Lambs," stars.
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences signed a new three-year agreement with CBS, NBC and NBC to telecast the annual Daytime Emmy Awards with each network taking successive years. CBS will televise "The 18th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards" on June 27. For the first time in its history, the show will be broadcast during prime-time, 9-11 p.m. The nominations for this year's Daytime Emmys will be announced May 9.
Fiona Hutchison, Gabriella Holden on ABC's "One Life to Live," will be leaving the soap at the end of the month. According to ABC, the network and Hutchison couldn't come to an agreement with her contract. There are no plans to recast.
