EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Philadelphia 76er forward Charles Barkley allegedly was involved in a spitting incident during Tuesday night's game against the New Jersey Nets at the Meadowlands Arena.
Net spokesman John Mertz said that there was some type of problem between Barkley and a fan sitting behind the 76ers' bench.
Neither Barkley nor any spokesman for the 76ers was available for comment. One witness seated nearby claimed that Barkley spit at a fan who had been harassing him and instead hit a little girl.
"An incident report was filed by the usher who was responsible for the area," Mertz said. "No charges were filed and the matter is being turned over to NBA security."
