Hidden Eggs and Other Goodies

There will be no shortage of Easter activities for youngsters and their families this coming holiday. Festivities will be held at numerous locations throughout Ventura County.

We can't give exact hiding places, but here are the general locations for hidden eggs and other Easter goodies:

* Ventura's Cottontail Canyon Day will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Arroyo Verde Park, Foothill and Day roads. Besides arts-and-crafts projects, guided nature hikes and a petting zoo, children can enjoy puppet shows at 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. A Best Dressed Bunny contest will also be held. Egg hunts will be conducted every 15 minutes between 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Food booths available. Admission is free. Call 658-4726.

* The Thousand Oaks Community Center, 2525 Moorpark Road, will entertain youngsters 3 to 5 p.m. today. Spring Holiday Party offers ages 6 to 12 outdoor activities and game booths, including puppet shows and egg hunts. Refreshments and prizes for all. Admission is $2. Call 492-2461.

* The Simi Valley Easter Egg Hunt will be held at two locations Saturday. Rancho Simi Community Park (Erringer Road and Royal Avenue) and Rancho Tapo Community Park (Lemon Drive and Avenida Simi) will offer Easter basket-making workshops 8 to 9:45 a.m. for ages 8 and under. Egg hunts start at 10 a.m. Free. Call 584-4400.

* Easter Egg Hunt '91 will be held at the Community High School football field, Casey Road and Moorpark Avenue, Moorpark, Saturday. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. and egg hunts are as follows: up to 2 years (with parent), 10:30 a.m.; 3 to 4 years, 10:45 a.m; 5 to 7 years, 11 a.m.; 8 to 10 years, 11:15. Activities include face painting, arts-and-crafts projects and game booths. Free. Call 529-6864.

* An Easter Fun Day at Mae Boyar Park (Kanan and Conifer streets) in Oak Park will offer ages 10 and under arts-and-crafts projects from 10 to 11 a.m. Egg hunts begin at 11 a.m. Free. Call 584-4400 or (818) 889-7221.
