This letter is in regard to the article on the House of Yahweh hearing (Times, March 24). I was present on that evening in the council chambers at Lawndale City Hall and I was shocked at the diatribes directed against the center and the homeless.
As an active member of the South Bay Homeless Coalition, I am keenly aware that the House of Yahweh fulfills a definite need in this area. By rejecting the expansion of the center and suggesting relocating the facility to more "suitable" surroundings, the City Council has set a frightening example for other communities to follow.
