If you plan extensive travel within the United Kingdom, look into the "Visit United Kingdom" fares offered by Dan-Air in conjunction with Air U.K. The special fares apply to any destination that the two airlines serve on their combined routes in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Dan-Air's route includes London (Heathrow and Gatwick airports), Manchester, Newcastle and the island of Jersey, plus Aberdeen and Inverness, Scotland.
Air U.K. (out of Gatwick and Stansted airports) serves Jersey, Guernsey, Southampton, Norwich, Humberside, Leeds/Bradford, Teeside, plus Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Aberdeen, Scotland, and Belfast, Northern Ireland.
The first one-way flight costs $99, up from $79 last year, with subsequent one-way flights at $89, up from $59. There is no limit to the number of flights travelers can take using the special fare. The fare offers discounts of at least 30% off regular economy fares. For example, a standard one-way flight from London to Aberdeen, Scotland, is currently set at about $199. Some promotional fares in the United Kingdom may offer lower rates on a round-trip basis, but there will probably be advance-purchase restrictions and other conditions.
The fare is only available to residents of the United States, and must be in conjunction with transatlantic flights to the United Kingdom, which can be on any carrier. Reservations for the first flight via Dan-Air/Air U.K. within the United Kingdom must be made before arrival.
