NBC News and Ethics

May 18, 1991

Howard Rosenberg's column "NBC's Abdication of Responsibility" (April 24) was brilliant. His comments on the network's decision to air the name of the woman in the Kennedy rape case are a glaringly true and sad assessment of our society.

The same people who can't see clearly what a person's individual rights are--whether sexual preference, artistic expression or a rape victim's anonymity--are the same ones who read the tabloids and watch these exploitive news reports religiously. Who knows, they may even be the same ones who uncover the dirt.
