Prayers Urged for Kurds

WASHINGTON — Catholic Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk, president of U.S. bishops, has urged prayers and financial support for Kurds and other refugees in the Middle East. Catholic Relief Services has provided nearly $4 million in emergency relief to the Kurds, hundreds of thousands of whom fled their homes following an Iraqi crackdown that came in the wake of the Persian Gulf War.
