Alhambra : Election on Police Station

June 13, 1991

A citywide advisory election on whether to build a new police station and jail has been set for Sept. 17.

The election will ask residents whether Alhambra should build the new facility next to the Municipal Court and City Hall. Police Chief Russell Siverling told the City Council Monday that the building and related expenses would cost about $24 million.

City Manager Kevin J. Murphy said that while the vote would not be binding, the council has pledged to abide by the decision of the voters.
