Sierra Madre : Vote on Budget Delayed

July 11, 1991

Thrown off schedule by the Sierra Madre earthquake, the City Council on Tuesday unanimously voted to postpone action on the proposed $11.3-million city budget.

"We agreed at the last meeting to meet again to discuss it, but we haven't had that chance yet," Councilman Gary B. Adams said. The council voted to hold a study session July 18, and to act on the budget July 23.

Also postponed until July 23 was a decision on a rate increase requested by Western Waste Industries, the city's trash hauler. The company's proposed rate hike would cost the average household an additional 82 cents a month.
