Posthumous Assassination

July 14, 1991

I find it a sad sign of The Times that the two reviews of books about J. F. K. focus on sensationalism, the sleaze factor, while only passing reference is given to "Promises Kept: John F. Kennedy's New Frontier" (published last year), from which Marilyn Monroe is, thankfully, missing.

I guess sex and the Mafia still warrant front-page attention, while the domestic program of an Administration rates a paragraph on Page 13.
