Investigating the 'October Surprise'

August 17, 1991

So the October Surprise didn't happen. Releasing of the hostages was a coincidence in time. The breaking of international laws, a figment of the imagination. After all, exposure of wrongdoing could bring down the government and we wouldn't want to disgrace our powerful Republican Administration, would we? George Bush as Reagan's vice president was also a CIA director who, like the three monkeys, "saw no evil, spoke no evil, heard no evil"--and add one more: did no evil.

Believe it or not.
