Condition of Fullerton Crash Survivors Better

September 29, 1991

FULLERTON — Doctors on Saturday upgraded the conditions of two Troy High School students who were injured when their speeding car plunged 70 feet down Skyline Drive into the side of a house, killing a third student in the vehicle.

The crash, which occurred about 9 a.m. Friday, claimed the life of 16-year-old Megan Glover of Yorba Linda.

Glover's 14-year-old brother, Joshua, who suffered head injuries and a possible spinal fracture in the crash, was listed in critical but stable condition Saturday at UCI Medical Center in Orange, hospital spokeswoman Fran Tardiff said.

The condition of Courtney Droke, the 16-year-old driver from Fullerton, was also upgraded from serious to fair condition, Tardiff said.

Fullerton police said Saturday they still did not know if the students had attended school at any time that morning and why they were not in class.

A police spokesman said investigators will attempt to interview survivors of the crash after they recuperate.

Eyewitnesses said the 1979 Camaro crashed as it sped down the twisting Skyline Drive at an estimated 70 m.p.h. A road maintenance crew waved futilely for the students to slow down, police said.
