BEIJING — A Hong Kong tourist trapped in a cable car halfway down from the Great Wall plunged to his death when he tried to signal for help, the Beijing Ribao newspaper said Saturday.

The man's wife also fell and was seriously injured when the operator turned off the cable car because he thought no one was aboard, the paper said.
