Theoretical astrophysicist Kip S. Thorne has been named the Richard P. Feynman Professor of Theoretical Physics at Caltech.
Thorne is widely known for his research on gravitational radiation and black holes, and for his studies of whether the laws of physics permit "wormholes" in the space time continuum and backward time travel.
