CSUN's Fisher Expects to Be Reinstated for Matadors' Next Game

December 25, 1991|RON TWERSKY

Cal State Northridge center Percy Fisher, suspended last week by Coach Pete Cassidy because he violated team rules, said Tuesday night that he expects to return to the team in time for Saturday's home game against Eastern Washington.

"Basically, everything is straightened out," said Fisher, a junior who has not played in the past two games. "I'll make a formal apology to the team at practice on Thursday."

Cassidy said that Fisher will be with the team when it returns from a three-day break Thursday but added that "there are things that need to be cleared up" before Fisher can return to active duty.

"I'll do the best I can to resolve them. That's about all I can say now," Cassidy said.

The coach added that Fisher's status likely will be decided before the game against Eastern Washington.

Neither Cassidy nor Fisher disclosed the specific team violations, but Fisher said: "It was just a lot of little things. Basically, I thought about myself more than the team."

Fisher (6-foot-7, 216 pounds) is averaging 8.0 points and 6.1 rebounds.
