Woman Chosen for Top Post at Pitzer College

January 22, 1992

Pitzer College trustees announced Tuesday that the school's next president will be Marilyn Chapin Massey, currently vice president for academic affairs at Marymount Manhattan College in New York.

Massey's appointment marks the first time that a woman will hold the presidency at the 29-year-old liberal arts college, which is located in Claremont and enrolls 750 students.

Massey, 50, is expected to take over the Pitzer presidency on July 1, succeeding Paul B. Ranslow, who has been acting president for the past year.
