A few hours before his older brother Rick played in the Australian Open doubles final, Jon Leach advanced to the doubles semifinals of the Adidas Invitational Tennis Championships with two victories Friday at Grand Champions Resort in Indian Wells.
Leach, a Laguna Beach High graduate now a USC sophomore, teamed with Brian MacPhie for a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Brett Stern and Aaron Stolpman of UC Irvine and a 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 triumph over Howard Joffe and Ashley Naumann of Pepperdine.
