Two Canadian newspapers reported that backup catcher Gil Reyes of the Montreal Expos recently had a positive drug test while playing winter baseball in his native Dominican Republic.

The Toronto Globe and Mail and Le Journal de Montreal both said Reyes might face disciplinary action from the commissioner's office. Reyes has been tested regularly since 1990, when he entered an Indianapolis rehabilitation center because of alcohol abuse.

It was unclear if Reyes would be classified as a first-time offender. First-time offenders are not suspended if they seek help for their problems.
