February 06, 1992

MONTEREY PARK — A 22-year-old Monterey Park man has died of injuries suffered when a truck driven by a Saugus man crashed into his car in the Val Verde area, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Ahmad Ayoub died of his injuries Sunday afternoon at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia, Officer John Manduca said. The driver of the truck, James White, 38, was arrested after the crash on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

White was traveling south on the Golden State Freeway (5), south of Parker Road, on Jan. 26 when he lost control of his truck and ran into the center divider, Manduca said. The truck rolled over, became airborne and came down atop Ayoub's car.

A passenger in Ayoub's car and a passenger in White's truck received moderate injuries. White was treated at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital and arrested. A new charge may be filed against him, Manduca said.
