Crenshaw : Artists' Salute a Success

February 13, 1992

More than 250,000 people attended last week's 10th-anniversary Artists' Salute to Black History Month at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, organizers said.

The five-day event, considered the largest exhibit of artworks depicting black history and lifestyles on the West Coast, was a bonanza for the mall, officials said.

"It was better than Christmas," said Linda Gray, marketing director for the plaza. "Merchants thought it was the best event ever at the plaza."

The 98 exhibits spread out over two levels of the mall included paintings, prints, quilts, sculptures, glassworks and photographs.
