From time to time when shopping in Simi Valley, I have been asked to sign various petitions. Because this practice of "signature gathering" really irritates me, I usually say "no" and go on my way.
On numerous occasions lately I have been asked to sign a petition having to do with parental choice of schools. I have observed numerous people signing this petition without much thought. This has been very irritating because this initiative really is not about choice, but about a group of people who would propose to dismantle public education and replace it with a system of vouchers for private secular and religious schools.
