Beverly Hills : 5,105 Jobs in Hotel Work

February 27, 1992

The proposed renovation of the Beverly Hills Hotel will create 5,105 jobs over a 2-year period, representatives of the Brunei Investment Agency said in a report submitted to the City Planning Commission.

Plans call for increased room size in the pink hotel, which dates to 1912, two years before the city was incorporated.

If approved, the renovated hotel would have 210 rooms instead of the 261 now available, an underground parking garage, covered loading docks and other amenities including a head-of-state suite.

Kerman Beriker, chief executive officer and general manager of the hotel, said the Polo Lounge and coffee shop will be kept as they are now.

The hotel, which is expected to close during construction, has 475 employees.
