Sizing Up Silicone Implants

March 08, 1992

Thank you, Harry Shearer, for the biggest belly laugh I've had in ages! ("Silicone Peaks and Valleys," Feb. 2). Your commentary on silicone silliness brought back some wonderful memories of life with my ex-husband, who urged me repeatedly to undergo mammary augmentation. Who needs vanity when you live with someone with enough arrogance to announce: "Your bust size is more than two standard deviations below the mean. Why don't you do something about it?"

I didn't have the augmentation operation, and given all the recent information on the potential hazards of the implants, I'm glad that I didn't.
