March 12, 1992

Supt. Robert Aguilar has received a one-year extension of his contract to head the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District.

The extended contract, which trustees unanimously approved March 2, expires in June, 1994. Aguilar earns $96,448 a year.

"I feel that we are moving in a positive direction, and he has been there in that process," board member Lupe Flores McClintock said. "He has provided the leadership and has the best interest of children at heart."

Aguilar became superintendent in May, 1990. He began his education career in 1962 as a teacher in Kern County. He also served as an assistant superintendent in Northern California.
