Diamond Bar : City Manager Resigning

March 26, 1992

City Manager Robert Van Nort is resigning to become city manager of newly incorporated Chino Hills in San Bernardino County, Chino Hills Mayor Gwenn Norton-Perry said.

Van Nort, 49, will oversee the administration of 96 full-time employees in the city of 46,500 residents. Negotiations on salary and the timing of the move are underway, but Van Nort said Tuesday that he expects to start the new job in May or June. Van Nort makes $92,000 a year in his current job.

Assistant City Manager Terry Belanger will become acting city manager while the City Council searches for a replacement, Van Nort said.

Chino Hills became a city on Dec. 1. Van Nort has overseen the start-up of several new cities, including 53,672-resident Diamond Bar, where he has worked for three years, and Big Bear Lake, where he previously worked for eight years.
