There's a lot of talk about people coming together to rebuild South-Central Los Angeles. And in that regard I want to say one very important thing. We will never be a successful community until we blacks learn to respect and support each other, morally and financially. And I'm talking about blacks of all areas, including Bel-Air, Beverly Hills, Malibu and Encino. All the Ueberroths of the world can't help us if we don't help ourselves. That comes first.
I'm a 56-year-old native of Los Angeles and I've been hearing and seeing it all my life--situations of blacks not supporting other blacks.
