Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. said its fiscal third-quarter profit fell to $53,000 from $71,000 a year earlier, despite a 58% surge in revenue, to $9.77 million from $6.19 million.
The earnings drop was expected. Vitesse, a semiconductor maker based in Camarillo, had said earlier this month that it might even post a loss for the quarter ended June 30. "The continued softness in the economies of the U. S. and Japan had an impact," Vitesse said.
