Strengthen Oxnard Police

August 03, 1992

There's only one reason why Los Angeles' crime problems have not yet traveled up the freeway to Oxnard and beyond: because Oxnard is gifted with a unique and aggressive Police Department. Nevertheless, the city is experiencing a trend toward more violent crimes. If Oxnard officials don't start allocating the funds to hire more officers, we will reach a point where it will simply be too late to do anything about it. Case in point: Los Angeles.

If the city needs more of my tax dollars to beef up the Police Department right now, they are welcome to it. As a city, we're either going to have to give our Police Department the resources they need right now, or we might as well get used to the sound of gunfire and the sight of blood on our sidewalks.
