Man Killed After Handgun He Is Showing Off Accidentally Fires

A Los Angeles man who was showing off his new semiautomatic handgun to friends was fatally wounded Sunday when the gun accidentally fired, police said.

Officers said the shooting occurred shortly after midnight outside a West Los Angeles nightclub. Edwin Joongho Lee, 23, died about 7:30 p.m. at UCLA Medical Center, said Los Angeles Officer Michael Margolis.

Lee was sitting in a car outside the nightclub as a friend inspected Lee's new weapon, officers said. The gun accidentally fired, striking Lee in the forehead. Police said the shooting was an accident and no charges will be filed.
