South Pasadena : Good News on Budget

October 25, 1992

Despite a loss of $318,000 in property taxes because of the state's financial crisis, the city's spending plan for fiscal 1992-93 should not be severely affected, according to a midyear budget review at last week's council meeting.

City Manager Kenneth C. Farfsing told the council that the loss will be more than offset by anticipated revenues from the city's new utility tax, which was imposed in July. He estimated that the 5% tax should raise about $900,000 for the current fiscal year.

Farfsing outlined several minor adjustments to the budget that will help the city cope with the state's cutback, including the elimination of capital improvement projects at City Hall, the Senior Center and the public library.
