Crime in 1992 went down 5.3% over 1991, according to police statistics. Citywide, serious crimes against people and property decreased 10.9%, but other crimes rose 9.8%.

* In October, 1991, reporting of assaults was changed to conform to state guidelines. Three aggravated assault categories were downgraded to simple assault, which is now included in other crimes category.
