LETTERS / FALLING DOWN : Proposition 13 Didn't Cause the Troubles in L.A.

March 22, 1993

Although I agree with the majority of Rainer's commentary on the film "Falling Down," one phrase jumped off the page: "Falling Down" is a last--minute whammy from the Reagan--Bush era...." Gee, Peter, I didn't know conservative Republicans had such overwhelming influence in Hollywood, and, of course, it's still politically correct to blame them for all of society's ills.

The real division in society is not between races or political groups but between decent people and those who exploit them. Last time I looked, those two groups aren't divided along racial or ideological lines. All people who feel oppressed by those who choose no moral code save self--interest. GERALD RHOADES Los Angeles
