A Saturday in the Park

April 01, 1993

Arroyo Verde Park in Ventura will be the scene of a triple-header Saturday when Cottontail Canyon Day, Earth Day and the Children's Celebration of the Arts Festival all take place at the park.

Ventura Parks and Recreation expects more than 7,000 people to attend this year's event at the park, located at Foothill and Day roads. Numerous events--including egg hunts, camel rides, the Moorpark College Exotic Animal Show, the Great American Petting Zoo, snake and raptor exhibits, arts and crafts, a puppet show, theater for kids, a magic show, recycling exhibits, guided nature walks, a ventriloquist and clown acts--are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission is free. Parking will not be available at the park, but a free shuttle will run from Ventura College's Loma Vista Drive lot.

As part of the Children's Celebration of the Arts Festival, on Sunday folk musician Craig Newton will give a free family concert at Arroyo Verde Park at 1 p.m. Newton will be followed by Ranganiketan, an 18-member Himalayan music and dance troupe. Parking is available at the park Sunday for $1. For more information, call 658-4726.
