NO GO: Former astronaut Sally K. Ride, the first American woman in space and now a teacher at UC San Diego, reportedly has turned down at least five offers--the last from President Clinton personally--to head the troubled National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Bush Administration holdover Daniel S. Goldin is hanging on to the post as he oversees a 90-day project to design a smaller space station.
