April 12, 1993|From Associated Press

Little Bro Lantis, a 28-1 shot, and Rams Fellow, a 54-1 shot, ran 1-2 from start to finish in the $75,000 Cicero Mile at Sportsman's Park near Chicago on Sunday.

Fappiano's Star, a 16-1 shot, rallied from last in the field of 12 4-year-olds and up to finish third.

Stalwars, the 2-1 favorite, faded to sixth.

Little Bro Lantis, ridden by Heriberto Rivera Jr., ran the mile over a fast track in 1:37 1/5 and returned $59.20, $25 and $14. Rams Fellow, an 8-year-old, paid $43.80 and $13.60. Fappiano's Star paid $10.40.

Dalhart, wire-to-wire leader of the Rebel Handicap on March 27 at Oaklawn, will be ridden by Mike Smith in Saturday's Arkansas Derby.

Because Smith was aboard Dalhart in the Rebel, Chris McCarron rode Prairie Bayou to victory in the Jim Beam at Turfway Park. But Smith was back on Prairie Bayou for his victory in the Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland on Saturday.

Asked who he would ride in the Kentucky Derby, Smith said: "We'll just have to wait and see how (Dalhart) runs. And then I'll let them--(owner John Ed) Anthony and (trainer Tom) Bohannan--kind of make the decision for me. I'll give my input."
