Xircom Inc., a Calabasas maker of equipment for linking personal computers, said its fiscal second-quarter profit surged 59% from a year earlier on a 32% sales gain.
In the quarter ended March 31, Xircom's net income rose to $2.13 million from $1.35 million a year earlier, while its sales climbed to $18.7 million from $14.2 million. The introduction of new products and cost controls helped produce the gains, Xircom said.
