Baseball Daily Report : Around The Majors

April 21, 1993| Washington Post

Baltimore Orioles owner Eli S. Jacobs owes a total of $273 million to his 20 largest creditors, with Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. of New York topping the list with claims totaling $71 million, according to bankruptcy court documents filed by Jacobs.

The documents, filed late Monday, did not give a full account of the New York investor's finances, because they included only a partial list of his assets. But lawyers for Jacobs, who has in the past maintained his finances in strict secrecy, said he will provide more details within 30 days.

Jacobs placed himself and two companies that he controls under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
