VENTURA : Man Indicted on Drug Charges

April 24, 1993|BARBARA MURPHY

A Ventura man arrested three times in a month on suspicion of transporting methamphetamine has been indicted on drug charges by a Ventura County grand jury.

Damon Joshua Kuzma, 21, is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in Ventura County Superior Court on nine felony charges, including possessing and transporting methamphetamine and resisting arrest. The indictment also alleges that Kuzma was carrying a firearm when he allegedly committed the offenses.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Nancy Ayers said Kuzma was stopped three times by the California Highway Patrol between March 10 and April 10, and each time methamphetamine was found in his car.

"He's a very bad driver, and he kept getting stopped by the CHP," Ayers said. "When they found out he had a suspended (driver's) license, they searched the car and found the dope."

Kuzma is in custody with bail set at $100,000, officials said. The indictment supersedes a criminal complaint that was filed earlier against Kuzma and will speed his case through the court system, prosecutors said.
