Home Sales Drop in First Quarter: Harsh weather and sagging consumer confidence pushed home sales in California lower in the first quarter, a realty trade group said. The California Assn. of Realtors said sales in the state were made at an annual rate of 413,550 in the first three months of the year, down 6.3% from a year earlier and off 9.9% from the fourth quarter of 1992. The trade group blamed January's heavy rains for most of the downturn.
