Calling for Help: Cher is calling on the United States and Britain to pressure Turkey to open a supply route for humanitarian aid to Armenia, which has been engulfed in an undeclared war with neighboring Azerbaijan for five years. Cher, who is half Armenian, arrived there last week in a chartered cargo jet loaded with 25 reporters and $2.75-million worth of privately donated humanitarian aid, including toys, medical supplies and computers. "The situation there is dire," she said after landing at London's Heathrow airport. "They are landlocked and have no fuel supplies. They have no water, they have no power, they have nothing. The people there are desperate."
