Viacom Sues FCC Over Cable Rule: The company, which owns 13 cable television systems, is challenging as unconstitutional the "must carry" provision in the 1992 Cable Act. The provision requires cable operators to carry designated local television stations on their systems and, when requested, to carry them on specific channels of a system. Viacom is arguing in its lawsuit, filed in federal court in San Francisco, that the rule violates its right to select programming.
