Eagle Rock : Congressional Arts Award

June 03, 1993

Rosemarie Atienza, a junior at Eagle Rock High School, won first place in the 30th Congressional District art competition for high school students, an annual competition sponsored by the Congressional Arts Caucus.

Atienza's black-ink pen sketch depicting a domestic violence scene will be on display in the U.S. Capitol for one year beginning this month along with student art from congressional districts nationwide.

A panel of local artists, including Occidental College art professor Linda Besemer, chose Atienza's work from among the entries representing Cathedral, Eagle Rock and Franklin high schools.
