Lynwood : Law Aims to Keep Taggers From Making Their Mark

June 03, 1993

The City Council unanimously approved an ordinance Tuesday regulating the sale and possession of aerosol spray-paint, thick-tipped markers and glass-cutting and etching tools.

The law, intended to curb graffiti, takes effect Aug. 1. It is similar to ordinances passed by cities throughout the Southeast area.

The law will require store owners to keep the items in locked cabinets or in store areas that are inaccessible without employee help.

The sale of the tools to minors is banned and children younger than 18 may not have the items on public or private property throughout the city, except under the supervision of an adult.
