June 17, 1993

For their last hurrah of the concert season, the Moorpark Masterworks Chorale will be serving up "A Program of Light Classics" this weekend. They will perform at the Simi Valley Covenant Church, 4680 Alamo St., on Saturday at 8 p.m. and at the Westlake Village United Methodist Church, 1049 Westlake Blvd., on Sunday at 4 p.m.

Founding music director James Stemen will lead the 80-voice ensemble in a concert that includes folk songs, spirituals, show tunes and other fare to close out the season on a light note.

Newton has appeared with the Los Angeles Opera Theater and the Hollywood Opera. He is a member of the Cameo Singers and is involved with the Moorpark College music department.
