AMERICAN LEGION ROUNDUP : Evanson Sparkles for Valley North

Chad Evanson pitched a three-hitter in his first start to lead Valley North to a 10-0 victory over North Hollywood in the American Legion District 20 Western Division game Saturday at Chatsworth High.

Ben Yosfan, Ryan Mort and David Stevenson each added two hits for Valley North (12-0).

Van Nuys South 16, Mission Hills 2--Visiting Van Nuys South pounded out 22 hits and every starter had a hit and scored in a District 20 interdivision game.

Dave Forst had four hits, including three doubles, and drove in four runs for Van Nuys South (10-5). Aaron Amitin and Josh Weiss also had four hits for the winners.

Van Nuys West 12, Las Virgenes 10--Dave Cohen's two-out two-run home run in the top of the ninth gave Van Nuys West (8-5) the victory in a District 20 interdivision game. Bhret Haessig had three hits, including a home run, for Las Virgenes (5-6) and Josh Morton, David Jacobs and Mehul Taylor each had two hits.

Encino 18, Burbank North 2--Sam Clemons (2-2) threw a five-hitter and Jeff Christensen and John Campanella each had four hits in the District 20 interdivision game at Valley College.

Christensen scored three runs and had one run batted in. Campanella scored four runs and had two RBIs for Encino (5-7), which has won four of its past five games.

Westlake Royal 6-8, Newbury Oaks 2-9--Tony Dellamano (2-1) scattered seven hits and struck out six for Westlake-Royal in the first game, but Greg Aguilar's three hits in the second game helped Newbury Oaks (7-4) split the District 16 doubleheader at Moorpark College.

Brian Fernandez had two hits--including a two-run double--for Westlake-Royal (11-6, 7-3 in district play) in the first game.

Verdugo Hills 7, Littlerock 0--Brendon Cowsill hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning of the District 16 interdivision game that was called after six innings when Littlerock Coach Dave Toledo removed his team from the field after being ejected for arguing a call.

Van Nuys East 8, San Fernando 3--Glen Carson had two hits and two RBIs for Van Nuys East (11-1) in the District 20 interdivision game at Notre Dame High.

Santa Susana 6, Camarillo A 4--Ryan Hankins hit two home runs, including a two-run two-out blast in bottom of the ninth to power the Santa Susana Palomino team in a pool play game of the Gene Waid Memorial tournament at Camarillo High.

Santa Susana and the Camarillo B Legion team will play for the championship today at 3 p.m.
